The location was perfect and amazing, next to all downtown locations, the beer garden outside the comfy bar where the Czech barman was very friendly & chatty and even the cheapest microwavable shop bought xmas pudding. The breakfast was warm and delicious and the parking was on street.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The setting of the hotel was great with fabulous views of the bay and one of the golf courses. The room was large and comfortable.
The only downsides were the old-fashioned lift (althought his was in keeping with the building) and the room was not very warm.

Attentive staff made check-in easy.
Heavy hallway doors made for noisy slamming.

Sorry, the heating didn't work. It was cold although we reported it. The view from the window was directly on a fireplace, which was unfortunately also still loud.

The room was very nice, the staff very friendly and great location, about 100 yards from the R&A. Breakfast was included in the room rate and very good.
I heard that the bar in the basement can be noisey when students are around. However, it was quite when I was staying.
